Description
Size 3 acrow prop hire
A longer steel prop. 2.59m closed, 3.96m fully wound. You hire it for a stairwell, a void or a ceiling that sits well above a normal house. You do not hire it for a 2.4m room. It physically will not stand — the closed length is already taller than the room.

When Size 3 is right
Measure floor to the underside of the beam, landing soffit or ceiling you must hold. If that number is between 2.59m and 3.96m, this is the size. Common jobs: stair flights, double-height hallways, a shop or studio with a high soffit.
Between 3.12m and 3.35m you can still use Size 2. Past 3.35m, Size 2 runs out and Size 3 is the next step. Past 3.96m, that is Size 4 (3.20–4.88m).
Do not treat this as a heavy-duty Size 1
The “3” is not a strength grade. A Size 3 wound toward 4m is working near the weak end of its range. Load is the stamp on the prop we send. Load-bearing work is still an engineer’s layout. Strongboys still only belong on masonry above an opening — Strongboy hire.
Frequently asked questions
Will a Size 3 acrow fit in a normal room?
No. It only closes to 2.59m. A typical UK room is about 2.4m. The prop will not stand. Use Size 1 (1.75–3.12m).
When is Size 3 the right prop?
When the underside you must support sits between 2.59m and 3.96m. Stairwells, double-height voids, some shop floors. Size 2 only reaches 3.35m. Size 4 starts at 3.20m and goes to 4.88m.
Is Size 3 stronger?
