Tracing Sonde Hire For Utility Route Tracking This small, compact tracing sonde is a very easy and effective way to trace the path of a non-metallic pipe, so you can map out the underground pipes and utilities around an area that you want to excavate. This transponder mouse (or sonde) is an essential piece of equipment, easily attached to normal drain push rods. As you push the rods through the pipe, the sonde sends out a signal which can be detected cable avoidance tool (CAT). By following the signal sent out by the sonde you can track and trace the path of the pipe.
