Everything you need to know about 1.5T Ripper Tooth Attachment hire

Description

The 1.5-ton Mini Excavator Ripper is a heavy-duty, single-shank ground-ripping attachment designed for use with compact excavators in the approximately 0.8–1.5 ton operating-weight class.

The ripper is designed to penetrate and fracture hard, compacted and partially frozen ground before excavation with a standard bucket. Its narrow single-point profile concentrates the excavator's breakout force onto a small working area, allowing the operator to loosen material that would otherwise be difficult to excavate with a conventional bucket.

Typical applications include:

  • Breaking hard and compacted soil
  • Clay and heavily consolidated ground
  • Removing small roots and vegetation
  • Breaking up weathered ground
  • Loosening gravel and compacted fill
  • Preparing ground for trenching
  • Landscaping and ground preparation
  • Small-scale land clearing
  • Loosening material before bucket excavation
  • Working in confined areas where a larger attachment is unsuitable

The single-point configuration provides high penetration with relatively little disturbance to the surrounding ground.

Specification
SpecificationRecommended value
Excavator operating weight1.2–2.0 tonnes
Nominal target machine1.5 tonnes
Attachment typeSingle-shank mechanical ripper
MountingDirect pin-on or machine-specific quick hitch
Hydraulic requirementNone
Primary useGround ripping and loosening

The attachment should be designed so that its weight and leverage are appropriate for the excavator's lifting and digging capability.

For a 1.5-ton machine, keeping the attachment approximately 25–40 kg is generally a sensible design target for a simple single-shank ripper, although the final weight depends on the mounting bracket, steel thickness and tooth arrangement.
