Ladder Hire Across the UK

Setting up a ladder safely

The standard guidance for ladder angle is the 1-in-4 rule: for every 4 units of height, the base should be 1 unit out from the wall. Too steep and the ladder is prone to tipping backwards; too shallow and the feet can slide out.

Podium steps provide a stable, guarded platform and are the preferred option over a standard ladder for any repetitive task at a fixed height, such as painting a ceiling or fitting a light fitting, because they remove the constant repositioning and balance risk of a leaning ladder.

For one-off jobs, hiring saves storage space and the cost of buying a ladder you'll rarely use. Industrial-grade ladders can cost several hundred pounds to buy outright but only a few pounds a day to hire, and you always get equipment that's been checked and is within its safe working life.
