Garden Clearing Hire Across the UK

Clearing an overgrown or wooded plot

A garden that has been left for a season or more usually needs a combination of machines rather than just one, a wood chipper handles the branches and hedge trimmings, while anything left as a stump or trunk needs a stump grinder or log splitter, so it is worth booking based on what is actually on the ground rather than assuming one machine will cover everything.

Stump grinders work below ground level, typically 15 to 30cm deep, which is enough for turfing over or planting but not always enough if you plan to build a foundation on the same spot, where excavation may still be needed. Always check for underground services before grinding, particularly near boundaries and driveways.

Wood chip produced on site is genuinely useful rather than pure waste, spread as mulch it suppresses weeds and retains moisture around beds and borders, so chipping trimmings rather than sending them to landfill or a skip both saves disposal cost and gives you a useful garden material at the end of the job.
