Drying out a damp building properly

Warm air holds more moisture than cold air, which is why pairing a heater with a dehumidifier dries a space significantly faster than either running alone, the heater raises the air's capacity to hold moisture while the dehumidifier actively removes it, rather than just letting damp air circulate.

Drying time after a flood or major leak is usually measured in weeks rather than days, rushing to decorate or plaster over a wall that has not fully dried traps moisture behind the new finish and often causes the same problem to reappear a few months later, a moisture meter reading gives an objective answer rather than a guess.

New plaster releases a significant amount of moisture as it cures, and a dehumidifier running in a freshly plastered room cuts the standard drying time considerably, which matters on renovation projects where decorating is scheduled tightly and a damp wall would otherwise hold up the whole programme.
