Concrete Breaker Hire Across the UK

Working safely with a hired breaker

Vibrating tools like concrete breakers are covered by HSE guidance on Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). There are recommended daily trigger-time limits depending on the tool's vibration magnitude, so alternate operators or take regular breaks on longer jobs rather than running one person continuously.

Always check for buried services (gas, water, electricity) before breaking into a slab or driveway, particularly on older properties where drawings may not exist. A cable and pipe locator hire alongside the breaker is cheap insurance against an expensive mistake.

Ear defenders, eye protection, steel-toe boots, and anti-vibration gloves are the minimum PPE for breaker work. Petrol and pneumatic units also need adequate ventilation if used indoors or in confined spaces.
