Everything you need to know about SupaGrow Premium Play Grade Bark 600L
Description
Working Out SupaGrow Bark Bags for a Play Area
This is one 600 litre bag from the SupaGrow premium play grade bark range, sold as a play grade bark. Bark laid for play goes down deep, so a play area often takes more than one bag. Start in litres: area in m² times depth in mm gives litres, so 1m² of bark 50mm deep is 50 litres. Put 10% on top for waste, then divide by 600 and round up to a whole number of SupaGrow bags.
| Job | Litres before waste | Litres with 10% added for waste | Bags with 10% added for waste |
|---|---|---|---|
| Play area 5m x 4m at 300mm deep | 6,000L | 6,600L | 11 (6,600 / 600 = 11) |
| Play corner 3m x 2m at 200mm deep | 1,200L | 1,320L | 3 (1,320 / 600 = 2.2) |
These depths are worked examples, not a recommendation for bark under equipment: use the depth specified for your equipment. Impact test figures for this bark aren't listed on this page yet, and nothing here claims it meets the playground surfacing standard BS EN 1177. These are general guidance figures, not measured for this product.
Preparing the Ground
- Clear the area and dig it out if you want the bark to finish level with the lawn.
- Fit edging before you fill so the depth stays even at the edges.
- Lay a permeable membrane if you want to slow weeds coming up.
- Fill in layers and rake level, checking depth as you go.
